Don’t Overwhelm Yourself

Don’t Overwhelm Yourself

As fun and cozy as this season can be, it can also be challenging, especially if it’s falling on you to manage everything from decor to gift sourcing to meal preps and big dinners.

When it comes to holiday decor, we like to keep things utterly simple. We like to spruce up our home with a few nontoxic candles, some greenery, stockings and holiday festivity gear.

The first thing to do is pre-plan your decor. Rather than decorating everything and hanging things all at once, you take them out of storage first. That way, you can never overwhelm your space, and you are not redecorating anything, just enhancing or embellishing. Make this activity an all family activity and enjoy the moments you have together.

If you just want to go with the classics, shades of red, blue, green, white and gold will always be on the safe side, but don’t use them all at once and in too condensed of a space. This can overwhelm your the outlook of your space and maybe even your guests.

Fresh greenery, even if just cut from your yard, is the easiest way to make your space feel festive and alive. Because fresh greenery appeals to multiple senses (it smells so good), it’s going to have a bigger impact holiday to you and your guests than decor alone.

Once you have decorated, you can enjoy your fresh home with a new look. After your decorating is done, you can do a new assessment of what needs to be done before you can receive guests. Make this list (write it on a notepad, so you don’t forget) and start thinking on how to get these done.

Day by day, we are getting closer and close to the holidays. Don’t overwhelm yourself simply because you didn’t have time. You make your time.
